The Industry Department Small enterprising is an almost 1 000 years old tradition in Malung-Sälen. The first established enterprise quarried millstones during the Viking Age.  The leather industry is however the most significant and well-known tradition. Malung is and has been known as leather Metropol not only in Sweden but in many other countries. The spirit om enterprising is a heritage treated with respect and care. Close to every tenth citizen runs an own company. The company support from the local government makes success and continuation a reality. Loyalty, unity, trust, skill, harmony – a few words to describe the normal life in Malung-Sälen. We all need each other. All citizens are equally important to the entire society and involved in a rather unique cooperation. Malung-Sälen is a large district. The distances between the villages do however not prevent our approaches. The Industry Department is the primary, active means of communication between enterprises and organizations in Malung – Lima – Sälen.
